Departure to the city of Gorodetz
Overview tour of Gorodetz, the oldest city in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, founded by Yury Dolgoruky in
1152 as a fortress on the eastern borders of Rus. During the tour, you will see the earthen rampart of the
ancient settlement (12th-14th centuries), as well as the historical part of the city featuring merchant
stone houses adorned with porches and smoke vents made of perforated iron, as well as wooden houses
with carved designs (approximately 2 hours).

Visit to the local history museum and the samovar museum.
In Gorodets, one of the most beautiful 19th-century buildings houses the samovar museum. Here you
will learn how to prepare a samovar for use, why a boot was placed over the samovar’s chimney, and
much more.

Visit to the "City of Masters" museum-tourist complex: workshops in ancient Russian painting,
Gorodets painting, clay toy making, pottery, wood carving, embroidery, and textile work – featuring
demonstrations by masters.
Time for souvenir shopping and master classes in Gorodets painting and clay whistle-making, along with
tea drinking with gingerbread.

built in 1877 for the millionaire merchant Sergei Mikhailovich Rukavishnikov, became the most striking
and affluent in Nizhny Novgorod.
